Catering Policies

Billing & Payment

Cash, checks, or credit cards (Mastercard, Visa, Discover, American Express) are acceptable forms of payment. No deposit is required at the time of booking, but final payment is required on the date of service (unless prior arrangements have been made).

All prices are subject to change due to market fluctuations, unless such prices are confirmed in writing.


Events cancelled within seven calendar days will not be subject to any charges. Events cancelled within two calendar days, the cancellation charge is 50% of the estimated food and beverage costs and within 24 hours, a cancellation charge of 90% will apply.

The Iowa Cubs and the Cub Club Restaurant reserve the right to cancel or relocate any event under the following conditions: game time is changed or home game is rescheduled, national emergency, severe weather or other act of god. Events cancelled for these reasons will not be subject to cancellation charges.

Tax & Service Charge

All food, beverages and services are subject to an 20% service charge plus applicable sales tax. tax-exempt groups must provide documentation. Please note that Iowa law stipulates all service charges are taxable.

Food & Beverage Minimum

There is a $500 food & beverage purchase and a twenty-five (25) guest minimum for all events held outside of the restaurant’s normal business hours (Monday-Friday 7am-2pm) and a $200 minimum for events held within the restaurant’s normal business hours. An event that does not meet the minimum requirements may be subject to additional charges.

Exclusive Caterer

The Cub Club Restaurant is the exclusive caterer (or Centerplate, in season) at Principal Park. No outside food or beverage is allowed into a stadium event without the expressed written consent of the catering manager, with the exception of cake/cupcakes from a licensed bakery.

Event Location & Access

The location of an event will be determined prior to confirmation of the reservation. The reservation includes only the space(s) listed or discussed. No event includes access to the Principal Park field or playing surface. The stadium is equipped with an alarm system which will dispatch both the Stadium Operations Managers and the Police Department if triggered. The client will be billed $200 if a guest triggers the alarm system or trespasses onto the playing surface, as well as an amount to be determined based on any damage incurred.

Access for decorating or load-in/load-out must be discussed with the catering manager at least 24 hours prior to the event’s scheduled start time. Early access may not be granted if another event is in progress.

Food & Beverage Guarantee

The client must notify the catering manager of the guaranteed number of people attending the event at least seven (7) calendar days prior to the event. If a final guarantee is not received on time, the number indicated on the working banquet event order will be considered the correct & guaranteed number of guests. That number of attendees will be considered a guarantee for which you will be charged, even if fewer guests attend.

We will make every effort to accommodate last minute changes to your order after it has been confirmed. Please understand, however, that if changes are made less than 72 hours before your event, we will not be able to guarantee additions and reductions will be billed to the extent that the food has already been prepared.

Plated Service

Selection of a plated lunch or dinner service requires the client to provide place cards with your guest’s selection of entrée. Entrée selections should be differentiated on the place card by a different color or otherwise agreed upon system.

Buffet Service

Our goal is to ensure that all food is properly handled and to minimize food waste. Good planning and accurate guest counts help us to achieve this goal. We take the responsibility of safe food handling seriously to ensure that none of our guests are susceptible to food-borne illnesses. Food ordered, but not consumed, at a catered function may not be removed from the function site. This policy is standard in the catering industry.

Buffet service is available for two hours from the agreed upon starting time.

Cake Service

You are welcome to bring in your own cake, however, a $1 per guest cake cutting fee will be applied. This fee includes use of plates, forks, napkins and serving utensils. If you bring in your own supplies, this fee is waived.


White linens will be provided with the purchase of food & beverage. Any special requirements for colored linen must be made at least seven (7) business days prior to the event and may be subject to additional charges.

Menu Tasting

We are happy to schedule an appointment to discuss the menu and arrange a sample tasting. It is helpful if you have an initial meeting with our staff before scheduling a tasting. It helps with tailoring the tasting to your needs. Menu tastings will only be scheduled after your reservation has been confirmed. Due to cost and availability, we may not be able to provide all requested items.

Alcohol Policy

Alcohol will not be served to minors. If a minor is found consuming alcoholic beverages, we reserve the right to terminate the function at the host’s expense. The management and staff may also refuse to continue serving anyone we feel has already consumed their limit of alcohol. The host agrees to be responsible for the consumption of alcoholic beverages by all guests and understands that service may be refused at any time. 

Any alcohol service ends thirty (30) minutes before the scheduled end time of the event or at 11:30PM. Any extension of alcohol service time may require on site security in the form of an off duty uniformed officer, at the expense of the host.


Our staffing ratio is generally one server per every twenty guests for banquet service. Labor is included in all banquet menu pricing. However, should your event exceed the contracted end time, or require additional staffing at your request, additional labor fees may be assessed.

In addition to our standard 20% service charge, a service charge of 25% will apply to all labor for events scheduled on certain holidays. These include the following: Easter Sunday, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve & New Year’s Day.
